I see these registries as a great gig for someone, but I don't understand what the point is if its not purebred, since any mixed genetics are forever mixed and I don't know that a paper with fancy writing on it changes the value of the animal. Why pay? For that matter, when it comes to mutts, how about I start a registry and you can send your money my way... After all, I'll send you a prettier paper than the other guys!

Other then identification, the only real reason to register a goat is to be able to show it or eventually show its offspring. In the case of an experimental you can breed up to an American status after so many generations of the correct breeding and conforming to the breed standard. You can also show your grade goat at an ADGA show in the experimental class, win and get championship legs towards its status. Registered grade animals dont tend to bring any extra money with their papers.

I love it when a grade goat wins Grand Champion at a show (not uncommon!). Some of the nicest animals can be crosses that blend the "best of breeds".

If you need a goat-sitter for those babies, you can drop them off here for a while. Toooooo cute.
