Weanling question - deschutes dawn - 08-31-2014
For those of you who have raised their own kids, how long will it take away from mom before I can put them back in the same pen and have them leave her alone? I have limited space and I need the weanling pen for the bucklings. That leaves 4 doelings to keep away from does and the baby bucks who are already harassing them.
I am selling 3 adult does as soon as babies are weaned so that will solve some of the problem.

hum, thats kind of a trick question. We have separated as long as a month and still had mamas let their babies back on. Have also separated for a few days and had the mamas be done with em. Just is kinda random.

I got my answer this afternoon. The three little renegades crawled under the fence and mom let them drink. They've been separated for about 4 weeks. I didn't have to milk tonight anyway.
