2016 was the 50th year the Christmas Goat was built and displayed in Gavle, Sweden.  The poor goat was torched by arsonists late the same day.

Yes, burning down the Yule Goat seems to be an important part of the tradition. Still, I'm sure it would be kind of nice if it could be left alone for at least a few weeks.
