If anyone comes and is disappointed it means they did not volunteer enough. We all need to pitch in on gathering a donation for the auctions if possible. Most of us are coming to relax, visit beautiful country, network with other goatpackers and learn from each other.

Id gladly pay an extra 10.00 buck with my camp fee to help out. I think if most did that, there would be no issue of comping Smile

I agree Nancy. Trails, goats, people... the only thing missing is a white russian and a fishing pole Smile

I'm not bringing my goats (sadly), but I'm totally willing to chip in a little extra if need be. I'm pretty distracted right now with other things, so I may need a reminder as to how much. (Just got back from a 4 day solo pack trip in the high country 8,000 ft - note to self - buy goat coats!!! Poor guys were cold at night) I really look forward to meeting you all!!! I can't wait!

What kind of items do you want for the auction? I'm in SF so not sure if I could come up with anything anyone would be interested in.

Last year everyone kept their goats penned or tied up at night, but there were a lot of loose goats roaming around during the day, so if you bring a buck you'll want to alert anyone with a doe and work out a plan to keep everyone safely sequestered and chaperoned.

Well, it looks like we wont be bringing any goats to the Rendy after all. One of my vets wants to charge an arm and two legs for a vet check, and my other vet isn't returning calls or emails. I was sooo looking forward to packing with everyone.

You might wanna explain to him its just a visual examination, nothing more. He comes out, or you bring the goats to him, he looks them over, sees no obvious signs of diseases, done.

I tried that. I have one more goat vet I can try that is a traveling vet. I will see what she will charge. Thanks.

I saw on news this morning that the Fire in Bend is really big. It said something about west of Bend. I was wondering if this is going to effect the area where we will be?

RE: Rendy attendance and hay - deschutes dawn - 06-09-2014

The fire is 35 miles from the camp. The only effect it will have is a bit of smoke if they haven't got it knocked down by rendy. We will be cautious in camp though. The Paulinas have had fires before but luckily none in the area we will be in. Yes, the fire is big! That area has a tree farm and lots of cattle ranches and easy access for humans. At this point they're thinking it was human caused. People use it to death up there. Three of Bend's schools have been closed due to the proximity of the fire. Levels 1, 2, and 3 evacuations are in affect. It's too early for this kind of sh#*!

Fire update. Totally surrounded and starting some mop up. Still smoky but the incoming weather system should help. Cooler temps and higher humidity, all good, maybe even a bit of rain. Anything that helps those crews who work so hard to save our forests and homes.

If it worked, it should be raining now. They were seeding clouds like crazy over here. I heard that they sent half of the firemen home and pulled out the prison gang...Looking good.
